This is an awesome site for toddlers and grade school kids. It teaches the alphabet, sounds of each letter, how to read, how to sound out words and it has some really fun games.

What an excellent site. Thank you so much, my 4 year old daughter did not want to get off the computer & I love the site. This site will be part of our lesson plan. My dd is already learning how to read. Than you again!!!!!

Starfall is a great site.  We've known about it for quite awhile now - although we haven't used it lately.

This may be a little long but this was such a great way and it worked so well and was so much fun for my kids. I implement it in several classes where I have subbed for a long time. It is great for young ones and special ed.

Make cards with each letter on it. Put a picture on the paper of an Apple or so on. Attach them all together. I put them in sheet protecters and then in a binder so it is easy to change the pages. You can go to learningpages.com to find the alpha and pictures.

Then you just sit in front of your child each day at a certain time. Circle time is a good name for it or reading time. Then you go throught the Alphabet. Just do the letters at first. Then start singing. A for Apple, B for Bear, Cfor Cat and Dfor Dog and so on.

After they have that down then every once in a while you can put their name in it. A, B, C for Caiti..... They love hearing their name. And if you put parts of the body in it you are teaching them 2 things at once.

I hope that you can implement this. It is so fun, I totally believe that nothing teaches children better at a young age than song. so sing it up!

Hugs!

Yes, I forgot about sign language. I attribute my daughter's love for reading and being able to read the Dick and Jane books at age 3.5 to this site.
