My oldest son is struggling in school this year. He's in third grade. Does anybody have any suggestions or good websites to help?

My niece was really struggling with reading. She was diagnosed with dyslexia, but she wasn't getting much help. After we tried to help her with the standard programs and with small group sessions, she was getting further behind and starting to get extremely frustrated. Over the five weeks of the summer holidays, we tried a new program, Imperial Academy of Reading.
When she returned to school, her teacher didn't believe it was actually her reading. She tested her multiple times. She no longer needed pullout sessions and was moved into the highest reading group in her class. They just tested to see where the holes in her knowledge were and sent a program that my sister and mother used to work with her for 15 minutes a day. I don't think that it was very expensive either. Hope this helps.

You may also want to think of other issues he may be having.  My child is dyslexic, he is also in the 3rd grade.  he has had some learning problems since school started, but I was always tod it was developmental and to wait, well now they finally agree with me and he is getting extra help at school.  I am also going to check out the websites listed by the others here.  Anything that can help.  Don't give up and find patience, it's very important.

Hi,

If you child is having trouble at all with spelling you can go to http://www.spellingcity.com/ it will allow your child to put in their spelling words and then play games so it won't feel so much like work. Hope that helps.

Take a look at this web site and see if it is of any help to you. I have two that struggle in school and they use the rainforest site there with them. www.rainforest.ca
