My 4 year old is starting to bite her nails. Any tips for nipping this in the bud before it becomes a habit? I don't want to nag her about it..

try to keep her nails trimmed down so then she won't have anything to bite. do you bite your nails? if so, try not to do it in front of her. i am a nail biter unfortunately, and my kids are 6 years old and started doing the same thing because they saw me do it. i try telling them not to do it that they want nice nails when they get older. they only do it here and there, i try to keep there's trimmed so they won't bite on them.

Hi Devon, thanks so much for responding! Fortunately, I am not a nail biter. So I can be assured I didn't teach her this one (finally something!). :-) Will definitely be sure to keep her nails are shorter though -- I do get a bit lax at times with this. Hopefully it helps! Thanks again!

I know this must sound mean...But my brother and I tell both my daughter who is 5 and his son who is 2 that if they bite their nails they will get worms in their belly!!! It helps!

Thanks Jenn! It's worth a try!! Thanks so much for your response!

i'm terrible for biting my nails! and unfortunately my daughter who is also 4 has started to copy me. i've told her that i'm going try really hard to stop as well, and that once we both have 'white bits' on our nails, i will go and buy us some pretty nail varnish to put on. (weekends only of course!) or, you can buy stuff to paint on their nails which doesn't taste very nice.
hope this helps! :)

You know Sarah? This might just help! She loves having her nails painted and this may be a great incentive! Thanks for taking the time to respond!
