Only child needs a sibling

My 6 year old son has been on a rampage about having a baby brother or sister. I have tried explaining to him that it's not that easy. I am dating but not in a relationship whereas I am ready to have another child. He spends time with his cousins and other kids on a regular basis. Any helpful hints ladies?

Now I know it sounds daft but get him a puppy. My daughter although not an only child (older brothers of 21 and 18 and she is 3.5) wanted a brother or sister so I bought her a puppy. She now has someone to play with, she takes him out for a walk with me, runs around in the garden with him, splashes around in the pool with him. The puppy is a boarder terrier and he is so placid, he even lets her dress him up and put in her pram. The mention of another brother or sister has been shelved. Now she has someone to play with all the time and when she is fed up with him, he sleeps in his basket and she goes off and does something else. It was the best decision I have made for a long time. We even took the dog to the beach and she made sandcastles with him!
