Lock it up or just don't have them in the house. If it isn't there and she is truly hungry, she will eat the fruit and veg or yogurt. Then if you want her to have them, let her have them in moderation at say a friends birthday party or when dinning out or at the movies.

Also, I work with kids of all age groups and have studied family therapy. DO NOT turn to showing your child pictures of overweight kids and threaten her with diabetes, etc. You are actually more likely to do the exact opposite of what you are trying to do. She could turn to over eating or then starving or binging and purging as a result.

Also, has she recently had blood work done for a physical. It is possible that she has some metabolic issues and doesn't even know it. Thyroid, Insulin, Blood Sugar, etc. can all affect food cravings, etc. Also have the doctor look at why she is waking frequently at this time of night/morning. If they are all "normal" then you are dealing with a behavioral or psychological issue and not a medical or biological one.

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

Thank you for youe advice Michelle. I do allow her to have these things generally, throughout the day etc. when she does get up at 3am> she gets food and then gets on the couch and watches TV. I do have fruit and veg in the house and she has cereal she could eat then. sometimes, like after school, she wants a snack i tell her she can have fruit or yog, but she just refuses and walks away then she returns 10min later complaining she is hungry again i offer the same but she still refuses. either she really is hungry, but would rather starve than eat healthy food or she is not hungry and just wants to eat junk...arrgghhhh

You have a few choices, allow her to have those items in moderation at a decent hour, or lock it up,or just don't have it in the house. Kids tend to want things they are not allowed to have so if you have made it a nono to eat this type of food that is the type of food she is going to want to eat. I would get a bunch of fruits and vegetables and get them ready ahead of time so she can snack on those instead however I do not understand why she is doing this a 3am. That is the weird part I would maybe talk to her pediatrician about that maybe she is not eating enough throughout the day.
