N/p Desiree, this topic has been a huge discussion for me lately. To be honest, regardless of what school him or her attends, teaching always start at home. So as her mother, I make sure we go over work at home just because. She's a smart 5 yr old & I want her to continue to be so. Im not a fan of playing & watching tv all day so I give her work, of which she loves doing, to keep her brain operating lol. I wish u & ur family the best of luck as well.

Kenya I hope the best for you! My oldest son went to private school from pre k til 2nd grade, than public school until high school we put him in a college prep high school. This cost us so much money that we decided that the other children will go to public school so that we can have some type of retirement for ourself:) But if I could I would send all 7 to a private school, or we might have to check out charter schools. Thanks again for your feedback.

After 8th grade, God willing, we will try sending her to a college prep j.h.s as well as h.s. I have 2 do my research on that very soon 2 b more knowledgeable. Gurl ur guess is as good as mines, im goin 2 assume government funding. Of which, i overheard that they are trying to cut out Charter Schools. I think Obama is against that though.

Thanks Kenya, so what will you do after 8th grade with your child, is there charter programing schools that go beyond 8th grade? And how can they provide private school qualifications without charging a tuition, how can they afford to keep the classroom small and keep the school running.

I would suggest a charter school which is in between public & private schooling. Although many of us attended public schools & we managed 2 do very well, but the school system has changed since then as well as their curriculum. Therefore, my daughter will b attending Explorer's Charter School from grades kindergarden to 8th grade. Their classrooms arent as crowded as public schools, there4 more 1 on 1 time with the teachers. Charter Schools has the same qualifications as Private Schools, just w/o a huge tuition.
