School will be out in about 5 more days, and i really need New things to do with my kids this summer......I have a 8 year old a 5 year old and a 4 month old, I am working part-time so I can't afford camps like most kids go to, I live in Chicago where alot of things are offerd free during the summer months, We are taking them camping this year for our annual family trip, but I really want advice on around the house stuff for those days when I just want to stay home, or not go to far. What do you do with your summer months????

One website I found to be very helpful is Handipoints. It is away to get the kids to do there part around the house and a way to reward them. It only works if you can keep up with it, but my kids love it. Try it.

Thank you ladies for the advice, I think my kids will like to try some new things, and we will deffinitely look into the website, they both like to be online, and I try to watch what they are playing to be sure it's safe

One of the things you can do right is exposing your child to the right websites that are safe to play on. I along with my daughters have created a great site for girls to play on from about 7 to 13 years old. It's safe and girls love it. If you let your daughter sign up then you will also receive a monthly newsletter from our school psychologist with helpful advice for you and your daughters. Check out www.missoandfriends.com. think you won't be disappointed. We started this site to help girls build self- esteem. Enjoy!

When my kids were young, and I was also working part time-we set up a neighborhood "Science Club" We would make toothpaste, homemade ice cream, leaf rubbings ect ect. We would get the neighborhood kids together, and they really enjoyed themselves. So did we.

We have a big pool but I still fill a little kiddie pool for my 7 and 5 yr. olds. They love to mess in the water with measuring cups and bowls. They spend a lot of time on their swingset and we always have movie time. And believe it or not they LOVE to cut the grass with kids scissors! When they say "I'm bored", I hand them kiddie scissors and tell them that daddy would love them to help cut the grass. When they get too hot to be outside we do crafts...such as taking string and making cheerio and froot loop necklaces. They like making them as well as eating them!
