haveing just moved to a small village in Wales with my 2 sons and a daughter, my 13 year old son was to start a new school. It is compulsary that all boys wear a short trouser uniform regardless of the time of year.

Paul is reluctant to wear shorts again saying it would make him feel like a little boy, I have pointed out to him that it is compulsary here and at 13 he is still a child anyway, he had a tantrun over it and I told him to behave or I will put him back in shorts full time, in and out of school, which I have done, as I thought this would be the best way to remind him, and to get used to being a little boy again. I took him out to buy his new short trouser uniform and also some childs red, no fly, shorts and some white underpants for school and superman underpants for around the house and to play in. On the night before school I changed his bed times from 10pm to 7 pm and told him that this would be his normal bed times from now on, he did'nt like it but after I gave him his teddy he soon cried himself to sleep. As i expected he soon settled in to school and made new freinds, allthough a lot younger than him, they would often call around asking if Paul could go out to play. It did seem strange at first watching little boys in their shorts playing in the garden togeather as if Paul had found his second childhood, he was certainly not the rebellious teenager he once was thanks to him haveing to wear short pants again.

Yay, I'm going to say I think your response was pretty pathetic and over the top. Sorry, but I could never imagine demeaning my child like this.

I'm going to show this to my children every time they accuse me of being the meanest mother ever.

I'm not sure why such a big deal over wearing shorts? In the US, all boys want to wear is shorts! And I think 7 is a little early too. But then again, if you have a 13 year old that likes superman on his underwear and cries with his teddy, 7 may just be the best time for him. Either way, I don't think your awful. I would rather my kids dislike me now for things they'll sure appreciate when they're ol

Are you for real??? My son is 11 and doesn't go to bed til 9 most nights. Also, who in the HELL makes their 13 year old teenage boy wear superman undies. I hope to god this is a joke or that you've already started counseling for your child. CRAZY!!!

Has anyone else gotten a message from Meloney, er Paul?

@Samara, after I saw your post, and the message she sent me, makes me wonder if they are in some need of some major help.

Okay lady you can't be for real! First off who makes their 13yr old go to bed at 7pm? My kids are 13-17 and their bedtime is 10pm on school nights and whenever on the weekends. Second,"after I gave him his teddy he soon cried himself to sleep",really? How demeaning to this poor teen boy! You really need a crasp on reality lady! Wow!

Why would you make a 13 year old go to bed at 7pm? That hasn't been my kids bedtime since they WERE 7......
