Stinky bathrooms blues!

When my two boys use the bathroom, they always seem to miss and make a bigger mess in the bathroom. We don't share a bathroom so I don't always see it until later when the smell is so horrible, that I can't stand to get in there to clean and when I do, the smell lingers and the floor seems to stay wet. What can I do?!?!?!?!?

I should add that my boys are 12 & 9 and when I tell them to clean up the mess, they just seem to push the smell around. Help!

I have three boys and one girl. I understand! My kids are in charge of bathroom chores for one of the bathrooms they use the most. Put them in training as to how to clean. Until they all can clean 80% of how clean you would get it, continue to supervise the process.

I have on my wall a chore chart that is a dry erase sticker. This way I can make changes as necessary. With three boys making messes, I would make bathroom duty an every day chore that gets rotated between boys throughout the week.

As the boys notice that someone has made a yucky mess, they'll start getting after each other to aim more carefully because they don't want to clean it up. In the end, the bathroom won't stink! And the boys will learn to be cleaner!

I know how you feel I have three boys as well with VERY bad AIM!! (14, 12 &12).. I have reverted to leaving the seat up so at least I'm not sitting in it on the seat.... Making them clean the bathroom has helped!! They don't like to get down and SCRUB what they did around the toilet with MOM watching to make sure it's done RIGHT!!!

Tell them you are going to supervise their bathroom use and force them to sit down on the toilet. Having you watch and making them sit down like a girl, will make them want to clean up in a hurry! ;) In the mean time, you might also want to put an in-toilet freshener to deter any temporary odors. I suffer with the same problem 3 boys peeing on the floor
I use bleach around the toilet to keep it clean twice a week
now i keep a bottle of febreze in the bathroom because the carpet and the shower curtin stink and the toliet carpet takes most of the abuse so i wash it once a week but yes make them clean it so the next time they think twice when they aim
