Strollers In School...

I went to see my daughter perform in a show she was doing for the holidays in school. She's in the chorus and was excited about it. I get there and they tell me I wasn't allowed to bring the stroller in,and it was the school rule. All you mommy's know that if you miss a school event it's the end of the world. Needless to say I was pissed. The school secretary offered to stay with my two babies (who are 11 months and 21 months) so I can make an "appearance".

Is this a rule with the board of education or is it discrimination. In a school that they were previously in I never had this problem. Does anyone have any input or experience with this too.

That is the stupidest thing I've EVER heard!!! For a school to be not kid-friendly or family-oriented...that's ridiculous!!! I would let everyone know about this!! Write to the newspaper and even go to the news station! Please keep us updated!!

That is the lamest thing I have ever heard! There aren't many parents who only have one child. If they want support from parents during events they will have to take the necessary steps to accommodate their other kids as well. They might lose a lot of money from supporter if they turn away the biggest supporters, the parents. Fight it.

I would inquire as to WHY they have this rule (is it anti-stroller, or anti-baby/toddler?) and if no-one knows WHY they have it, then ask WHO made it? The PTA? Principal? Board office (if so, it would be in all the schools in the district)? It might take the rest of the year, but you can go thru the right channels to promote change. Sure does seem silly to me (mom of 6!)
