I will be getting both the flu shots for my kids, because they have asthma im not sure if my youngest can have it or not.Anyone who is experiencing symptoms have been told to keepmaway from docs surgeries because of spreading it.

Here in Australia the Federal Government is urging everyone over the age of 10 to get the shot, particularly those in the high risk categories - they have even made it free to encourage everyone to have it. Why only those over 10 because as yet there is limited data on the effectiveness of the vaccine on children under the age 10 as well as how many injections children would need to ensure immunity. ie is it one like adults or do they need several. When that data is released they will encourage parents to get their children immunised.

So I would wait until that data is released. Just be mindful of what the symptoms are and if your son is displaying a high temp, sore joints and runny nose then take him to the doctor - if you know anyone displaying those symptoms stay away from them for five days.

Honestly, I work in the medical field and I only get the flu shot because of work but I do not make my kids get it. My kids are healthy. They don't have asthma, allergies or anything else that might make them worse if they catch the flu. I WILL NOT get the swine flu shot nor will I get it for my kids. My husband won't get either shot because he doesn't believe in it.

The swine flu vaccine is totally different than the regular flu vaccine as they are two different strains of flu. It is better for kids to be vaccinated against BOTH types of the flu. I have a 7 year old and an 11 month old and we will ALL be vaccinated against both strains of flu.

i plan on doing both its just finding those with the vaccinations, its more as a safe guard because they are at that age and it is recommended up to 10yrs of age better safe then sorry after seeing the children on the news. so i would encourage it strongly.

it's always good to get the flu shot, just to be safe :)
