My son is an only child, and loves school, but when school is out, it is really hard to keep him occupied. What do you look for in after school, summer camps and other enrichment activities? How do you choose a good fit for your child, and what do you expect to spend on weeklong camp?

I work full time and I have to have care for my kids in the summer. This year my 6 year old is going to the YMCA day camps. All my friends say it is the absolute best one and he can go mon to friday from 8 to 5. They are very active with the children and take them swimming once a week, and teach them different sports, and other activities. I look for what is highly recommended by others and I look for places that are very active. The cost of this daycamp for my son is 120 a week and I do believe the YMCA also has a subsidy program if you need it. Another thing you can look into is putting you son into a summer sport ie swimming lessons, baseball. soccer, karate etc. That will help keep summer boredom from setting in
