My husband and I are currently scouting for the best school for our son. By June this year he will be 4 years and 7 months old already which means he'll be in Kinder 1. We need help in choosing the best school for him. Coz we want him to really have best quality education so that he will not be left out by other kids his age. Can you please help me in determining how to choose the best school for my kid? Thanks a lot! =)

Here's a website that I have looked at.  You can read all the parent comments which I think are helpful.

I would definitely ask about teacher turn over which is a red flag and usually the more involved the parents are in the school the better the school

most principals love to tour parents and tell them everything. Ask #1 what they do for kids who are either advanced or behind. Ask #2 what percentage of kids move in/out of the school every year. A more stable school has fewer discipline problems.

Please also consider that studies have shown that boys, especially firstborn, should by 5 by the MARCH before the september when they are starting.

Also there's a great book about boys in the school system, public or private. I think it's called "the minds of boys" by Gurion and stevens. I know choosing a school was harder than choosing a name!! Good luck!

To Mommy Nicola, Lucy & Monica...THANK U SO MUCH for your inputs on this one. All of them are very helpful in our journey of finding the "ONE" =). I really appreciate it. We've already gone to several schools in our community and found a few interesting schools that got our attention. I would say right now, I am looking into 3 schools... and from those we still need to choose which is really the best for our son. I am just really very excited to send him to school. I can't wait to see him in uniform carrying his school bag and all...ha-ha-ha. =P So Moms....please continue sending in your suggestions..inputs on this topic...we still need to trim down our list so we can finally pick the right school. Thanks again!

Quoting Ching: for me personally i chose the school that i felt most comfortable with, that would listen to my concerns without getting defensive, and that would teach my daughter at a higher level than regular schools or preschool. that is why i enrolled her in a montessori school and it it covered by subsidy from government but ur income has to be in a certain criteria.good luck on finding a school for ur child

We have a lot of choices for school where we live. I asked a lot of parents for their input about the different schools and looked up the school's profiles to find their ratings. Also, I would encourage you to vist the school and ask for a tour. This was so helpful because I was able to really get a feel for the environment, aside from the academics. We've been very happy with our choice. Oh, you might also want to consider location and try to keep it a convenient distance.
