Ok....I am the proud mom of a six year old son.He is a darling, however we just reconstructed our home an he now has his own room. His end of term grades were 85% over-all.But i would really like it to stay that way or go higher.I was advised to put educational charts all over his bedroom instead of those cartoon characters.I have already started, with a picture of a fish,dog,cat,duck.....My next project is a colour chart.Am a stay at home mom so am making the best of it until i resume work.Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
Ria

My son is 5 and in first grade so his room has up things that are relavent to what he is learning. We have a huge map of the world, maps of the states and our state. We have up words that he just needs to learn (the ones that don't sound out right). We have math problems, and the different ways numbers are written as well as spelled. We also have things that he is interested in like the different parts of the body, bones, muscles, organs. It is all fun and does not look childish at all.

Instead of colors and pictures of animals (which he knows already) why not put things up that he doesn't know or that he hasn't mastered yet? Like spelling words, math questions, numbers, cursive, things like that.
