What would you do?

I had the opportunity to sit in on part of my sons kindergarten class yesterday. In one of the group activities I noticed he didn't participate at all! He's a very smart kid and is retaining what's being taught but I'm just concerned because he's not participating. I talked to my husband and ge thought it might of been because he knew I was there but when I asked my son about it he said he never raises his hand. When I asked him why he said it's because he never gets called on. Should I send an e-mail to my teacher saying I'm concerned that he's didn't participate and find out if he ever does, or should I try and sit in on the class again to see if he really does take part in class. What would you do?

If it was me I would have a talk in the morning or after school with the teacher or arrange a parent consultation ( if they do them) to see what they have to say. Not as a big issue but just for peace of mind and to make sure that if he isn't participating that he's being fully encouraged! Sometimes the good, quiet children aren't always pushed as much as they seem to be getting on ok...
