Wow, I think I'm a cheapskate based on the other posts! I only give .25 per tooth.

Mine get 2.00 for a tooth without a filling and 1.00 for one with a filling. It promotes good brushing!

mine get $1 and that's it. My oldest (8 1/2) asked two teeth ago and we told her the truth ~ the hard part is keeping her from telling her sister who is 4 1/2 and hasn't even got one loose yet! She also asked about the Easter Bunny this year and I'm guessing Santa is not longer believed in either, but it's been between those two holidays she's made this discovery, so we'll see! Oh and It's the spirit of giving and surprise, my kids will still get things from Santa, etc at least until they're both aware, maybe then it'll stop ~ not sure though, hopefully we have time for that still!

Mine are 9 and 10 and from what I can tell, they still believe. I will tell them when they ask. I think they like the idea of something mystical, obscure, etc.... I will always try to help fuel their imagination. I told them a long time ago, when you stop believing, it will cease to exist, same with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. Santa exists because I exist. My husband exists. I do not believe I am lying to them. I do exist!! So when they stop believing, they will cease to get the surprises from each character. They will still get form Mom and Dad but not from Santa or the Easter Bunny...or the Tooth Fairy.

Great thoughts! Do your kids all believe in the Tooth Fairy or do they start to realize it's their parents?

I gave both of mine $5.00 for the front teeth and $1.00 for the rest, but one of the last teeth that my youngest lost I accidentally put $5 instead of $1. She got out lucky, but I had forgot about it two nights in a row and had to tell her that the toothfairy was on vacation. lol So I guess the tooth fairy kind of owed it to her, inflation for the tooth staying under the pillow. lol

It depends, but usually $2.00. When my youngest was 3 we had to have the 2 front teeth pulled because she fell and damaged them she got $5 for them because it was early. I try to keep it consistant so they don't ask...why did I only get $1.00 this time but last time I got $2.00 last time...only cuz my kids would ask LOL. Now that doesn't mean we dont scroung for that you know quarters, nickles, dimes, pennies, etc.

Mine get $1. period. We can't afford to be dishing out money for teeth. We've been through a total of 5 children; 3 of which are grown and gone. The older ones were lucky to get $. 50 or $. 75. Thye spend money like it's water and we are trying to get them to save for a rainy day. My son has a bad habit of losing things. He has lost money, too. This drives me crazy so I am not giving him alot of money to waste. I guess it depends on their maturity level and how well they save it.

I vary it depending on the size of the tooth $2 for the bigger teeth and $1 for the smaller ones.
