I know this is an old question, but here are some helpful tips to people who look through archives for answers. There is no doubt that shopping online will save you money on clothing because of taxes. What usually makes up for it is shipping cost, so generally you find places that offer free shipping. Amazon for example has a minimum order like $25 making you eligible for their free shipping. eBay will always have great prices and has a filter option for free shipping. http://pearlposh.com is one of the few online boutiques that offer free shipping without a minimum and just great prices across the board.

its not such a great amount but try looking in charity shops, local markets, shops with discounts and places like primark. If there is something special you have seen which could be sent as a present make a list so friends can get them for you.Hope this helps xxx

Op shops are the way to go, why pay full price when you can get good clothes second hand. Otherwise shop at midyear or end of year sales at the big department store sales like Big W, Kmart, Target, Best and Less. Not David Jones, Myers etc their sales are still full price compared to other discount stores.

I do most clothes shopping at Once Upon a Child, Goodwill, and Value Village. Winners (not sure if you have that where you are) is sometimes good, but sometimes it's really obvious how stuff ended up there (like, no actual person is the right shape for that skirt). I find Winners and VV are better for adult stuff than for kids' stuff.
If we need a particular thing, or for items that are hard to buy second-hand (like tights and bathing suits), we try Old Navy or the clearance rack at Children's Place or Please Mum. Zellers or the dreaded Wal-Mart for socks and undies.
A friend of mine swears by eBay -- she buys big batches of kids' clothes second-hand. She has a boy, though -- I have a feeling boys are less picky about their clothes than girls :P

Where are you located? We are in NYC. My husband shops at Kids City. We are not brand name people and our kids love all those TV characters so we get them for cheap there. We also shop at bobby's. got some very nice jeans and T-shirts there for them.
