every mornin since he started year 1 he makes excuses up 4 not goin 2 school. itsnot coz he gettin bullied i have been 2 c teacher and i phone the school wen he is there and he is fine. i just dont no

i have been in 2 c the teacher and we both thought that at 1st so he gets little extra help from a teacher on a 1 2 1 basis and he is still the same. mayb am just rushin him 2 much he needs tim 2 adjust like ya sai yr 1 is different an it still only november

There is much less playing and a lot more learning in 1st grade. You should make sure he's not struggling with his school work. Kids will get away with as much as you let them. If you let him stay home once because he was sad, he's going to try it again. My kids did the same thing to me. Just be strong and say no (you can cry and feel guilty when he leaves...that has happened to me a few times). But really find out if he is having a problem with the work. Like I said 1st grade is a huge change from kindergarten.

You know my husband got my son up at five a.m. this morning to go on his first hunting trip and he got up without a complaint. I think it really has to be something that they want to do sometimes because my son is fine any other time also. I try to just stay as consistent as possible and not give in. Good luck!

Sounds like seperation anxiety disorder to me. Does he have issues leaving you any other time?

You know my son does not still want to go to school alot of days and he is in the third grade. He has a wonderful teacher and I am vise president of his school pta. So I am there alot and he might see me through the day. My little girl is in the first grade and she loves to go to school. I think it might just be a difference in their personalities, and maybe with my son is that he is so happy at home and cozy in the nest persay that he just doesn't like to leave maybe that might be the case for your son. Who knows each child is so different and I would love to be inside of their heads to figure out what is going in there.
