Why does my son's farts smell so awful...all he eats is peanut butter and jelly, hardly gas forming?

Oh nope, never mind...Those were my stinky farts. All along they were just lingering and he is always by me so I just assumed it was him. Thank god, I was getting a little worried that my little boy could smell that bad. I will try to incorporate more foods into my diet I guess. Thanks all!!

constipation does make them fart more often and they do seem to be more stinky...also, doesn;t peanut butter have a lot of protein in it? maybe it's not being digested as fast as other food?

Hi it is because Peanut Butter contains an amino acid l cysteine which is Sulphur Containing and as we all know from Catalytic convertors Sulphur pongs of Eggy farts. If you buy a jar of Cystein from the health shop and open the lid it is just like bottled farts lol.

He could be allergic to bread! Try a gluten free bread to see if that makes a difference for him. OR does he drink a lot of milk? Try giving him a rice milk or almond milk, but not soy milk for boys (it contains estrogen and he doesn't need that)

Well, often when kids are even slightly constipated it will make their gas smell MUCH worse. In regards to not eating anything other than PB&J, I would suggest not giving it to him for a couple of days and instead offering other foods. At one point all my daughter wanted was noodles. I told her she can have the noodles only IF she ate some of the other food first. Eventually she ate some and got her noodles. I continued this approach until she progressively ate more and more of the new food. Good luck!

Kids are so difficult to feed sometimes, aren't they. I suppose if you offer him something and he doesn't eat it and your don't allow him the pbj he may be more willing to try new things. One of my nephews only at pbj, waffles and mac & cheese for a long time, he eventually outgrew it.

That's all he will eat...I try to incorporate more food into his diet but he doesn't touch it. I can't stand it!!!
