hi Jane, unfortunately if one parent is not treating their child properly the threadworms do become a vicious circle!! They are such a common ailment for children and literally are caught just through them putting dirty hands in mouth, scratching their bottom in their sleep when eggs are present, fingers back in mouth etc, have you tried "Ovex" suspension, all the family take one 5ml spoonful and that should be it but if after two weeks you find they are still there repeat the dosage, many people forget to redose after 2 weeks and this is usually why they come back, good luck, hope my advice works for you, i have a dis abled daughter aged 11 who is still in nappies and she gets them on a regular basis. Kids can pick them up from almost anywhere. The eggs once on their finger tips will be transferred to their toys, they float in the air and can be breathed in again. It usually takes around 6 weeks to clear them of them . I think all the parents need to worm their children at the same time. I don't think there is any harm to keep giving them the treatment. Wash all their toys, regularly wash the bed linen. Keep finger nails short. Put them in pants at night. My doc even said the once to put cello tape over their bottom at night to catch the eggs and they can't scratch and get the eggs on their fingers. Only thing about this is that it is uncomfortable for your child. Hope i've been some help to you x
