Dreading Weekends

My husband works weekends 13 weeks out of the year, and then he is a college hockey coach for five months. Weekends are the absolute HARDEST time to be a single mom. I blogged about it http://choosingtogrow.blogspot.com/2009/... and there are things that have helped to make it better, but some weekend days are worse than others. I have started to really look at life...our relationship...and mothering as a day-by-day operation (investing where I need to keep things maintained, and speaking up about those parts that I need to change) The situation may be miserable...but I have decided that I don't need to be. Hang in there!

Oh yes - hate them and I do try to make plans to meet up with people but then they have their own lives to be getting on with aswell. Really hard - been doing it for 8 months now - does it get any easier?

I hate the weekends too cause we never have traditional weekends. As you mentioned it is hard to do playdates and such when others are having "normal" weekend time. At least this weekend you can think that there are other mothers out there going throught he same stuff with their kiddos.

OMG yes! My two oldest go to school during the week and I only have my 3 yr old so my weekdays are my "weekend"and vice versa!

I hate weekends too. It seems like the burden to have fun on the weekends falls on me. I don't know if this burden is imagined or normal, but I definitely get tired of finding something fun to do. I have two boys, so they get a little crazy when cooped up, and I don't mind doing things outside, but it just feels lonely to go to the park or somewhere without Daddy. Last weekend some of my friends' husbands when fishing/camping and wouldn't you know it, that was the weekend my husband was home. I also luuuuuuuvvvv it when my husband is home on a Saturday or Friday night, or even when he's home to go to church with us.

I hear you girl. I work Tuesday - Saturday. But weekends, and even nights are rough. My daughter is only 10 months old so theres not a lot of communication...ever. Just know youre not alone...

No. My weekends consist of house work and during the season swim meets. I work M-F days and find that weekends get long with hubby gone. However the weekends he is home are wonderful
