hi there. :) I have just found this circle of moms thing a few minutes ago, so I haven't filled anything out yet, but my name is Sara and I have a 2 yr old and a 5 yr old, and a husband who travels around 4 days a week, sometimes up to 2 weeks at a time, we never ever know until the day he leaves so it is very unprediactable. I'm sure I'll find people to relate to me, and people I can relate to, because it is such a weird place to be in - married but sort of single!

We deal with the problem of him being gone, coming home but too tired to be useful or interesting so he just sleeps.

Or him feeling depressed about being away and taking it out on me.

Or him missing important things, very important things, or even all the little things like school events that you are always by yourself for.

Or him complaining about getting a abd nights sleep and you just want to reach through teh phone and strangle him because if you are in a quiet hotel room IT DOESN"T COUNT as bad sleep because you are the one at home waking up in the middle of the night tending to actual children people.

Or not being able to plan anything in advance.

But! It is nice to accrue frequent flyer miles. :) And hotel poitns! And of course I've grown used to "me" time, so it is nice having him away at least a little bit. He's a great dad and adores our two kids, and makes a real effort to be hands on with them - they don't seeem to suffer for the arrangement at all, it is just he & I really!

The plan is for me to get a job in a few eyars once the boys are older, so he can quit his and take a much lower paying one. But we'll see. I think part of him would miss the adventure of it all!

Anyway... babble babble. Just popped in to say hell o really. :D

hi sara, i live in the north of england, near york, in a very cute little villiage. i'm starting to get used to living mostly on my own, evie is a wonderful little girl, that sleeps very well and eats okayish, the things i find the hardest is that because daddy is away all week, he tends to throw out all the rules at the weekend and it cause a lot of fights! ah well.....

Hi Emma, where are you in England? My husband is English and we lived there for 3 years (I'm American), had my 1st son there. We lived mainly outside of Cambridge in a town called Ely, but also with his parents in Suffolk (near Mildenhall) and we lived right near Lakeside mall in essex for while too. :)

The travelling gets slightly easier once you get a circle of friends. I've got 2 amazing friends here, they were her tonight to keep me company (their boys are the same age as my boys) but soon they will be leaving to move overseas... and it jsut gets harder.

Tonight, for instance, the place is a WRECK because kid #1 (usually a gem) decided to be rotten today, had an "accident" in the bathroom, was woken up at 5am, and I just haven't had a BREAK from them in a solid week now and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. We've been doing this for 4 years now and sometimes it isn't so bad, but then you have days like today and you just want to drink whiskey and run away! :)

*phew* I feel a little better for that. :D

Hi Sara~ I can relate to EVERYTHING you just said. I am a full-time working mom of three, and my husband owns his own trucking business. the last time he was out for a month and 1/2!! Only for him to come home and be miserable....I am sometimes ready to pull my hair out.

Not sure really how we all do it? Thank goodness for my mom, she comes a couple days a week to help with the kids, cook, and do some laundry.
