My husband works 1400 miles away so I homeschool our two children and travel to see him every 3 weeks or so. He only gets to come home for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the months of May and June. Struggling with consistency going back and forth.

Thanks! Believe me, we have gone over many scenarios. See, our problem is, we purchased our new home and our old home didn't sell. We are kind of stuck in a pickle. My husbands job can pay for both, we just have to stick it out for about 5 years so we can get a decent amount for our old home, then my husband will only have to travel for 3 months a year instead of the opposite. I can go the 12 weeks, and the kids could probably go the 12 weeks, but my husband couldn't. He has never been alone. Don't apologize, I was looking more for venting, but sometimes a new perspective can give you insight you never thought of before. Thanks again for responding.

I'm not sure if you are looking for advice or just venting. I'll go for the advice, if I trample your space, I apologize. 1400 miles every three weeks is extreme in my opinion. It seems that budget is not issue if you can do that every three weeks. I'm not sure of the arrangements, however, would it work out smoother if you saved about four travel dates and not go. That is twelve weeks, yes, it is a while. However, would it be feasible to then take the money you saved from those four times of not traveling and rent a furnished house nearby and stay for a month while your husband works? This way your husband could come "home" every night and stay on weekends while you are renting. Or just move to where he is?
