Hi i'm Jaimie my hubby works for Interstate dist. Co. out of WA. we have i son who is now 5. he's been driving for a little over 2 years now, and when he comes home i am very hapy cause i get a brake from the kid but at the same time it's like it makes more work for me to do when he is home. it's weird i'm so use to cleanin up after just me and my son then when hubby comes home it's like whoa! another person to clean up after. and really he's not even messy or anything lol. i think it's just me cause he get frusterated cause he don't know our routine or how i handle things with our son and i'll get upset at time when he don't do it my way lol. but i love him. he looking for a new job here in Idaho where we live need to find a company with better pay.

Hi Everyone, My husband has worked for Prime Inc, out of Springfield, MO. We are based out of Michigan and with the economy being so rough here he decided it was time to leave his job in the auto body industry to try to make a better career choice for the family. Thankfully for the time being we only have one child, a little girl who just turned 2. My job is a stay at home mommy who is looking for a job in this crazy economy and going to school online working towards completing my degree in the middle of 2010.

Yes, it is hard to reconnect. When we first were married I was the type of person who expected marriage to be a partnership, no 50's wife here lol. You both do the cleaning and household stuff. We used to drive together, so I know how hard it is for them. Driving a semi is not an easy job! It is so much more than sitting behind a steering wheel! I find myself now, turning into the 50's wife! I have discovered that when he comes home he deserves to be spoiled and pampered. I work and take care of our Son, the house, the finances, etc. but when I have a day, or a few hours off I lay around, watch t.v., take a walk or even a 2 hour bubble bath. My husband, however doesn't have that luxury. When he leaves to go on the road he is at work 24-7 until he returns. So when he is home I don't let him do any of the housework, he gets to pick what we have for dinner, and I try to make his home time as relaxing as possible. The benifits are twofold. We are all happier and more relaxed which makes it easier to reconnect, not only as husband and wife but as an entire family. He appreciates it as well, because he knows that this is our way of saying thank you for all your hard work and sacrifice.

Hubbs drives his own truck, leased to Scott Melvin Transport out of Rock Port, Missouri. They mostly haul swinging meat. We married in 96 he started driving in 96 and I in 97. I quit in 2000 and went into dispatch, then we had our son in 2001. Trucking sure does have it's ups and downs, but it has provided well for our family, so I can't complain!!

Sometimes it is hard to reconnect when my husband comes home. I'm so used to him being gone that him being here sometimes just seems unreal. I think it's harder because we don't get much "us time" because him being home only a few days a month he wants to spend as much time as he can with our kids. Where is your husbands home terminal at Deana? My husbands is in Edwardsville, Ks.

Mine is a road driver for ABF out of Dayton Ohio We have a 71/2 son and a very rotten 2 (AUG 11th) little girl. having him gone a lot sometimes takes it's toll on us but I manage. I don't get much me time but I rally enjoy my babies and the money is good-- and in this day and age we thank our lucky stars that we have an income every week.

My husband is a cross country truck driver who works for swift like Cassi's hubby. His parents own the trucks, so he works for them too. It is very hard sometimes he's beem ding it for over two years now. I have a 15 year old daughter,a 9 yr old son,and an 8 yr old daughter. I thank god i have well behaved kids because i would go even more crazy.Dont get me wrong they have there moments but dont really ever give me a hard time just with eachother every now and again. My husband and I have been together for 10 yrs now,Do any of u sometimes feel its hard to reconect when they come home? to get back in the groove of things? i also agree with cassi. I am also very proud of my husband i know its hard but hes doing what he needs to for his fsmily.

I very much agree Shelley! I wish my husband could be here all the time with us. Especially since we have 2 young kids and his 16 year old living with us! I'm also tired of the people who disrespect truck drivers or put them down because without them we wouldn't have a lot of the things we use on a daily basis! I'm proud of my husband no matter how much I hate his job and no matter what crappy company he works for because he's doing us all a favor and he's doing what he wants to and what he needs to for his family...

My husband is an owner operator, but has gone from a semi to a dually pulling a 48' trailer, hauling cars. This change came after losing his job, due to GM's crisis. My husband hauled Corvette parts. He is gone more now than when he was in the big truck. It's hard to have your husband gone all the time. My daughter and I go with him as much as we can. We live in KY, for now, moving to AR. very soon. My husband goes all over. He never knows from one day to the next where the next car will be to pick up. Women who have their husbands home with them all the time, don't really know how nice that is!!

My husband is a truck driver. He's only been doing it for a year now though. He drives for Swift... Yes, I know, don't say anything, he'd like to get away from them too! LOL! He went to school last year and he was going to be leaving on a saturday to start driving and the day before (friday) i found out i was pregnant, a surprise one! it was also mothers day weekend... it was a rough one! we have a 4 year old and our now 7 month old, and my 16 year old stepson lives with us as well. I understand the lonely, depressed and overwhelmed part. It's hard to do everything by yourself, especially since I was so used to having his help just a year ago. He stays gone usually a month or so unless there's a holiday or something special. The money is good sometimes, but with our economy some of the freight seems to be slowing down and some weeks I just want to tell him it's not worth it anymore... I love my husband, but I hate being the wife of a trucker. I wish there was something better for him!

Well I guess I have a unique perspective, my dad was a truck driver for almost 30 years. It made the days that he was home a lot more special and we were very close to my mom. I know how hard it was for her though. My husband travels a lot for work too.

Hi I'm Terri we live in Decatur, Illinois.

My hubby is contracted through the Federal Company Moving & Storage out of East Peoria,Illinois. Our 26 yr old son has been going with him for the past 9 yrs as a helper, as my husband not only drives but he sometimes packs, inventories, disassembles and loads at residence then unloads reassembles and sometimes unpacks at destination. Our 25 yr old daughter's boyfriend some times will go and help him inventory and load the trailer also.Even my middle brother has helped him out at times to unload a shipment if it's in town.

Hello,

My husband is a Driver for Lange, out of Bakersfield, CA. In this day and age, I know I should be grateful that he has a job, that money is coming in, that his boss is trying to give him hours, but I am still lonely, depressed, and overwhelmed by being left alone at home for days on end, sometimes weeks, with three kids, two that are under 5.
