Trucking with baby??

My husband wanted to take our oldest with him, but the company insurance won't allow passengers under 13 to ride. You'll have to have him ask their rules and insurance.

hi your husband will have to check his companys guidlines, unfortunatly most companys dont want riders under 13 in rig, BUT- my 3 boys and I sneak and go with my husband once or twice a month, its fun, and it gives my boys a little extra time with daddy. in the sleeper cab your hubby should have harnesses for beds, when we go my now 10 month old sleeps in his car carrier, i put blankets around the bottom of it to lessen the bounce and harness the bed over his carrier so he cant be knocked over or sideways. he actually sleeps better when we go then he does at home!lol

Alot of companies now require that the child be 10 years old to be a rider, I have yet to find one that the age is under that, unless you are an O/O i suppose

We started traveling with our daughter when she was just 4 months old. She is now 5 and our son is 2. We've been on many trips together as a family and since he drives coast to coast we pick a trip and use his days off to make it a family vacation. Our children have now been all over the country and LOVE going with daddy. My daughter has been able to point out several states since she was 2. We don't go as often with two kiddos but we enjoy it.

I would go with my husband ocassionally when our daughter was an infant. He drove for a family business so they didn't have any problem with it. But I'd ok it first because sometimes insurance companies will throw a fit. And you have to have a car seat in case a DOT stops you! We would go on shorter runs with him (2-4 days). It was fun when we would go, but it would wear me out being on the road for days at a time and sleeping in the turck with a baby. I was always glad to get back home! But I am a homebody so maybe thats just me! Our daughter is 3 now and around 1 1/2-2 she would get too restless to stay on the road for long. So, thats around the time I started working. Trucking got slooooow and we needed the extra income. But I would much rather spend time on the road with my hubby and baby! People don't realize how hard our men work and how tough the job is. Then add in being away from family... its tough on both ends. I wish you and your family good times while traveling and take care on the road!

Amy, I have two children and depending on the company that he is with is the question about rules. the only thing that we had to do is carry the car seat on the truck incas you get stopped by DOT. other than that my oldest child (2.5) now was on the truck her enitre 1st year and we had a blst. She had no problems and i'm ready to go back no so bad that i'm going to get my cdl's. I loved it and i'm ready to take the youngest one. My oldest remember's more than we knew, espically the truck stop Pilot!!

I used to go with hubby when our daughter was a baby all you need is his passport and birth certificate..i dunno where your at but here in ontario thats all i needed but you can always call the border and ask them it can always change ...as for travel bed you can find them at walmart,toys r us etc or just look on kijji they usally have something...hope that helps

When our little one was 4 weeks old, I went with my husband to Colorado and back once. We were gone for 8 days. I just buckled his car seat in the back during the day and at night, we put his bassinette in the top bunk. Our little one seemed to love it.
