Expecting number 2 and need some advice.

I have a 16 month old son and i am expecting again and due on Oct. 3rd. I had the quad screen done and it came back positive for trisomy 18. We did a high def. ultrasound and everything looked okay but i was told the only way to be sure was an amniocentesis. I am currently awaiting the results of the amnio and i am really freaked out. I am supposed to be getting the preliminary results on monday.

How many of you have been through this? I really hope this is just a false positive because i cannot imagine having to deal with the other option.

thanks. i found out today that everything is fine and i'm having a little girl. so i'm super excited.

I went through this when I was about 4 months. They said the baby had trisomy 13 and 18. They was going to give me a amniocentesis I was going to let them do it until they told me the effects on it so I didn't let them do it. I have had several ultrasounds and come to find out the baby is doing good. I said thank God.
