My son is 18 months and I am now 4 months pregnant and due in the same month my son turns 2yrs. I had an emergency C sec with my son as my waters broke and I only dilated to 2cm and he started to show signs of distress. I was told when I had him that I would have to wait at least 3 years before getting pregnant again if I wanted to attempt a natural birth.

I am now pregnant again and the Dr says he see's no reason why I cannot try for a natural birth this time round. I did some research on the Internet and have heard some stories of women rupturing during delivery, which can be deadly.

Just wandered if there are any stories of women who had a natural birth after a C-Section? and what the time difference in between pregnancies were?

check out www.birthstories.com it's got some great stories of women who had a VBAC. You can also see if you can find this book, it's called Frankly Pregnant. I laughed so hard i almost peed myself when reading this book while pregnant. but she also had a VBAC.

I'm in the same boat as ou girl. I had to have a c-section with my first because my fliud was extreamly low so they wanted to induce me (I was already 4 days late) After a mixture of the cervadil and potocin for 12 hours I never dialted so tey decided to go ahead and do the c-section.

I want to have a VBAC this time because I want to be able to work for the birth of my child since I was never able to go through any type of labor with my first. I'm worried because I don't know if my body is going to do the same thing this time and not let me dialate. My Dr is very understanding about wanting to do a natural birth and is with me all the way.

My second child is going to be turning one in March and he was delivered naturally after I had my first son by c- section. I too was very concerned about my stitches rupturing but everything went fine.... I think the possibility is low. I had a wonderful midwife team that supported VBAC and reccommended going to a VBAC class to learn about the options (pros and cons). I live in Canada and the attitude about VBAC's are becoming more positive....; doctors are becoming more open to doing them. if you have access to a VBAC support group in your area or VBAC classes definately look into them... they are very helpful and put you at eaze. It can be done and has been done successfully by a lot of women ( all 10 women in my VBAC class had naturall births). My sons are 2.5 years apart. I highly reccommend getting in touch with a support group and have a great natural birth! ;-)

It all depends on how well healed your incision is. I wanted to try a VBAC myself, Ended up with a repeat c-section due to her being a week late and they couldnt induce b/c of the previous c-section. I am glad I had the repeat c-section though. My OB told me that I would have been one of those to rupture. My uterus and incision were so thin that to quote her "I could have sliced it open with my fingernail." As for a repeat c-section being impossible that is bull. It all depends on the incision itself. Once they doctor opens up your abdomen they cut on the same spot or slightly higher or lower depending on the circumstance.

If you look up VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section) statistics you'll see that you are way more likely to have medical issues with a repeat c-section. The mortality rate for baby is way higher with c-sections.

With a VBAC you have less than 1% chance of rupturing. My doctor said that its normally very hard to do a repeat c-section for him because the scare tissue is almost impossible to cut through.

You can also look at VBAC forums at stories of women that have had VBAC's and what they thought of all of it.

The only problem with VBAC's is that not too many hospitals do them. I should be having my baby in a 1-2wks but I'll have to drive about 2hrs to get to a hospital that will do one. I think it'll be worth it because babies that are born naturally are healthier and it's easier to breastfeed and the chance of postpartum depression goes down.

Some doctors will try to scare you out of a VBAC because they can charge up to $30,000 for a c-section but only $5,000 for a VBAC, that's why America has 30% of births via c-section and every other country is at about 2-7%.

Lots to think about. Good luck!
