My boyfriends mom had to bribe him with a balloon in order for him to be okay for them to bring his baby sister home. He didn't want a sister. He wanted a brother lol

mine will be 22 months apart. I started early to let my daughter have time to understand and get used to the Idea and show her with a doll, I also tell her how she was in mommies tummy too and how she did the same as baby brother.

It really depends how far apart they are. Mine are 14.5 months apart so my son didn't find out until I was about 7.5 months along. It was really cool that he was able to feel her kicking like crazy the day he found out he was having a baby sister. And then he insisted on kissing my belly every chance he got until she was born. However, 1.5 months was a terrible wait for him; I can't imagine making a 1 or 2 year old wait 8 months for a baby.

I strted as soon as I knew I was pregnant by telling her that Baby was in mommies tummy than patting my tummy I will also ask her where her baby is . Now she will pull up my shirt exposing tummy pat it and say baby. she will some times hug and Kiss baby as well. As soon as we knew what we were having I added the babies name.

Also I have made a point of showing him pictures of me when I was pregnant with him so that he can see that he too was once inside mummy's tummy.

We are expecting a second one in October and our son is 29 months. We told him in the bath because he wanted to jump on mummy's tummy and we had to stop him. We told him at first that it was a baby sister then had to tell him later it is actually a boy. He understands very well that mummy has a baby in her tummy and keeps asking me to open it up so the baby can come out. Also when we are in the bath he tries to put things into my tummy through my belly button for baby to play with. It is very cute. It must be difficult for little ones to understand that baby cannot come out yet because they have no concept of time.
