It can be due to skin stretching and the winter air. Layer on a thick cream while still wet from the shower/bath. If you notice a rash get ahold of your doctor.

I got a really bad rash PUPPP with my first all over my body.  Do you have a rash with your itchiness?  Because if thats the case the only cure is having the baby.  I tried EVERYTHING and nothing worked.  I have a high threshold for pain and went through almost all of my labor without drugs (only ended up with them because I couldn't push the baby out and had a c-section) and I'd do labor 5 times if it meant never getting that rash again.  The dermatologist finally gave me a steroid shot which kept it in check until the baby was born.  Good Luck and I hope you don't have what I did!

I was insanely itchy - for me I think it was the skin stretching and the dry air from the winter months working against me. I found using Aveeno moisturizing body wash and a bath puff in the shower followed by Moisturel moisturizer right out of the shower helped immensely. I had tried a bunch of other products before finding this combo which worked well for me, most of them just left me feeling greasy and stained my clothes - like Palmers cocoa butter cream, and body shop body butter and baby oil. The itching can drive you around the bend - no?

oh my goodness get yourself to your midwife or even dr and get checked for cholestasis quick. this can be linked to pre-eclampsia but also a danger in it's own right. i had it with my first and didn't know what it was. thankfully me and bump were absolutely fine. (she is now the most gorgeous 20 month old little angel)  there is a  bloodtest for it. don't want to alarm you but better be safe than sorry. i'm on the look out for it with this bump! only know about it as read leaflet on it whilst waiting for 20 week scan with this bump the other day.
