Intuition or wishful thinking?

I am currently 36 weeks and 3 days pregnant. Had a doctor visit yesterday and after the exam he said I was 40% effaced and 1cm dilated! I'm really excited about this because with my 2 previous pregnancies, I didn't start thinning/dilating til after my due date, when they started trying to induce me. Has me really hopeful that this time I will go into labor on my own! :D
I don't know if its because I found out that things are starting to move along, or if its intuition that things are changing. Since yesterday I feel more crampy and having more contractions, feeling really hungry constantly and also really tired, couldn't keep my eyes open this morning even though I slept good last night. Is it my imagination or are things kicking into a new gear? I've never gone through this before, never gone into labor on my own before, anyone else feeling this way?

everyones body is different. For me with my oldest i had to be induced, with my youngest at 36weeks preg I was 5 cm and 50effaced, but no contractions I stayed that way til 41weeks when i had my son.

I went into labor on my own at 38 weeks 2 days with my first child I was supposed to be induced the day we ended up going home lol. I had contractions for the entire week before for hours at a time they would come and go. I was told they were just braxton hicks and that I was not dilated at all. I lost my mucus plug that week as well. At the end of the week I suddenly got a ton of energy and re-arranged all the furniture and baby clothes in the nursery. Then my water broke so I wasn't crazy those "braxton hicks" were actually pre-labor contractions when I arrived at the hospital I was 4 cm the day before I was nothing. so you could be going into labor soon or not never know you can be dilated 3 or more cm for weeks before actually going into labor or like me you can be nothing then just go all of a sudden. I do think that you will likely go before your due date this time good luck!
