My daughter is starting to act like an infant again. Crawling on the floor, waking up in the middle of the night crying and wont tell me whats wrong...can someone please tell me if this has anything to do with the fact that I'm about to have a baby and please help me think of a way to make it stop!

my oldest daughter has gone through that very stage now three times. she's 6 now and she has a younger brother and sister and im pregnant with another. she would always revert back to babyhood. its common, normal and expected. i had fun with her each time mind you. i would try to put her in a diaper and give her a bottle. that was when she remembered she wasn't a baby anymore. but there are things you can do. you can accept the stage and play along like i did, or you can preoccupy her with "big sister" things, or you can talk to her and explain to her whats happening, let her talk to the baby, play with the baby, etc. she will eventually gain more interest in the baby than with you.

Try to remember that most "stages" last only 6 - 8 wks! Thank God! If your daughter's behavior is born out of confusion of not being the baby anymore could you allow her to play a bigger "big sister" role? "Big sister" is much more exciting! Simple things mean alot to kids. Let her pick a color for the new baby or decide where a toy should go for them, maybe learning how to get a baby wipe out to help with changing the baby. The praise she gets for being SO helpfull should prove much more rewarding than the boring attention a baby gets! Good Luck!
