I have 2 children...my daughter is 3 going on 4 and my son is 19 months. With my daughter, I tried the "every hour on the hour" method when she was about 2 and it got to the point where she would yell and cry and not want to do it anymore! So I layed off and just tried with the encouraging and asking her if she wanted to go. (Usually "no" was the reply lol) When she was about 2 1/2, she knew what the potty was, knew when she had to go, all of that, just flat out refused. Put her in pull-ups, just kept encouraging. Even tried bribing with candy for when she did go. lol That kind of backfired, whenever she wanted candy, she would just sit on the toilet, say she went and asked for candy...lol so I quit that one. Bought her undies and tried the "you're a big girl now, lets see how long you can keep your panties dry" trick. That didn't work, she just wet them over and over...Finally, one day, she was about 3 years and 4 months old, I ran out of pull-ups and had no money to buy more so I just put her undies on and told her that was it, use the toilet. Unbelievably, it worked. She didn't have a single accident. I know..I don't get it, why couldn't she do that sooner? lol She's now almost 4 years old and is completely trained and doing great. My son is 19 months old and I want to start with him. I am due with our 3rd child this December and realistically, I know, he won't be potty trained by then, (maybe? lol) but I want to start. I've never potty-trained a boy and would appreciate any tips! Anyone ever fully-train their child before 3 years old?? That's my goal here...I know 3 is basically the norm, but I don't want to have 2 kids in diapers for a long time again...would like to try to have him trained sooner, so any tips from anyone is appreciated and thank you in advance! :D

have him wear underwear all day, not pull-ups and take him even when he says he doesn't have to go. Keeping track of when he goes will help you. I've been doing this for a 5 days with my 24 mos. old son. so far we are 50/50 on accident/successes ratio. I heard it takes 2-3 weeks.

thanks sabrina :)
Another question...when do you teach a boy to stand and pee? Do they do it themselves or need to be showed how? When does that happen?
