I think that it is a great idea, just a little party to get a few little things and to celebrate the new child! Just ask for little items, like keep the gifts under $10 or something, that way no one feels to obligated to buy anything large that you already have!

my philosophy on baby showers is that carrying a baby for (hopefully) 9 months... growing a brain and some kidneys and a two adorable feet and 10 yummy-munchable fingers is super hard work... and therefore, we all deserve a baby shower or sprinkle with every baby! Whether or not you register for gifts... I think a celebration is in order!

i had a baby shower with my first one in a nice building and invited lots of people but with my second one we had a baby shower at the park and invited people not so much for the gifts which are great and always a help but we did it just so everyone could see how big i was and we always play a baby guessing game(you guess the babys date of birth eye and hair color weight and height) at our family baby showers and thats always something special to have so we plan a party no matter if its the first or the fifth

Here is my delima, I have a little boy who is 27 months, I had a normal baby shower with him with games and food and bubbly. Im due to have our 2nd around 14th April 11, this time Im pretty sure its a girl! (no u/s to confirm yet). half of my family when my sister in law had a baby shower for her 2nd child said you could only have one and bagged her about it. A couple of my friends have asked if I will have one and I think if its a girl i will but just an afternoon with the girls around the pool with nibblies and drinks. Does that sound reasonable?

We're going to have a baby sprinkle for a couple of reasons, but mainly because i missed my first shower... yup, while the amazing women in my family enjoyed each other's company, games and snacks, i was in labour with our daughter! literally before the party had ended I had my little girl in my arms, so this time around (with a boy on the way) we're going to have a sprinkle to ask for some blue items as well as all the diaper fixin's that we'll need in the early days

how about a meet the baby party two weeks after baby is born my friend did that and people brought lots of little thing... that's what I plan on doing too

i felt a bit sad not celebrating my 2nd pregnancy (due in 5wks today!!). so i had a Baby Sprinkle afternoon. made it a 'tea party' theme & had a nice afternoon outside with a bunch of girlfriends. didn't play the usual baby shower games or anything just a bit of a tea party with pink lemonade, pink (Rosehip) tea, pink champagne, cupcakes, ribbon sandwiches etc. was a nice little celebration to remember :)

Im 6 months prego with second baby (a girl) and I have a 15 month boy already. I have everything from him still, but since the baby turned out to be a girl, we decided to sell the boyish stuff and got new things for our lil girl. I am throwing a shower anyways though because it's fun to have everyone together to celebrate a new baby. You don't need to do anything special or make a certain theme out of it. Just register for a good mix of cheaper things and decadent big stuff and send out the invitations! This is an entirely different person coming into the world. Doesn't he/she deserve to be welcomed just like the older brother?

I've actually been thinking of doing more of a girl's afternoon party than a baby shower because I think the traditional baby showers have been done too much. If you feel awkward having a true shower, just have the girls over for dessert and champagne (sparkling cider). Can't go wrong with that.

I have a 1 year old girl and I am 6 months pregnant with another girl. So we have pretty much everything. I just remember with the first baby we didnt have to buy anything (diapers, wipes, clothes, NOTHING) for like the first 5-6 months of her life. It would be great to get that treatment all over again but would feel tacky having a 2nd shower consider the kids are so close in age.

we dont know the sex of our second child (due dec 22nd) so we are doing a diaper party. the only we're asking everyone to do is bring a pack of unwrapped diapers (any amount and size) in exchange for a ticket to our gift basket raffle which includes an ipod shuffle, a one time use camcorder, a desk fan, some pillow cases, candles etc. (stuff for men and women) i let everyone know that no gifts are needed but always appreciated lol ive found most people buy things anyway. we registered and sent out the registry cards but theres no pressure. there will be games and food of course.
