We're starting to look for baby gear for the new baby coming. Our daughters will be about 18-19 months apart when the new baby comes in February. Based on how old our oldest daughter will be, we're very unsure about the stroller situation. Do we get a double stroller, a stroller with the sit/stand thing for toddlers or just go with what we already have and Hannah can walk or be carried. My concern with the latter is trying to manage 2 kiddos when I'm out by myself. Anyone have suggestions for what's worked for them?

this totally depend son you and what you will use the stroller for. i live in Australia and i bought a Phil & Teds sports buggy. It did cost me $700 but i weighted up the pros and cons. My reasons were, both kids want to sleep so i need two seats, i didn't want a side by side as it gets to bulky so Phil & Teds was perfect as you can have two or you can take one seat off and it is a single, it caters for up to 50kgs in weight, so it will last till the kids are around 4 or 5 and it has bigger wheels on it, perfect for my area where we have no footpaths.

i would sugest the quattro tour duo glide stroer it caries up to 50 lb in the front there is cup holders but no tray so the older chld doesnt feel donfined and the back seat stil works with an infant far seat i do not sugest a sit and stand as it is more distracting for the child plus it puts the older shild between you and the infant. when the baby hits about 2 a sit and stand is a good thing to look into but do not sugest until the baby is older

Im due in Oct and mine will be 18mths apart, I plan to front carry the new baby, and have the stroller for my toddler, I don't think i'll need a double stroller while new baby is so small.
will be interesting to see how it goes.....

I have a peg perego aria side by side stroller, my boys are 21 months apart and i've been using it for over a year now. It is fantastic!!! It fits in any standart doorway (I thought a side by side stroller was wide and wouldn't so this was awesome) and it's so easy to maneuver, I can turn it with one hand on walks, very lightweight too. One side is narrower than the other - so in the beginning the toddler gets the narrower side while the car seat clips in on the wider side, and then once the baby is out of the car seat they get the narrower side and your toddler gets the bigger side..... hope that makes sense. Anyways I hated the tandem double strollers, they were so hard to turn, so I love my little side by side stroller so easy to go anywhere and it feels just like walking with a single. :)

Whatever you do - don't get a side by side double stroller...I've been told by many moms that the older one has a much easier time hitting siblings...I personally will get a kickboard type attachment that has a seat and goes on any stroller so we don't add another to our Stroller Museum.

I used a double stroller and loved it. I have the graco duo glider and we picked that because the graco snugride infant carrier for the car had the highest safety rating. I have twins and then had my next baby 21 months later and now expecting again my 4th baby. The stroller is compact for a double and easy to collapse and throw in the van. 4 years later it is in perfect shape still and will accommodate my two littlest ones and it manoeuvres well through doors etc.
Good luck in your search!

I also have the graco duo glider, and my son is 15 mons. He likes to be able to sit in the front or back and I love it cause the car seat attaches to either one, so when my second child gets here we wont have to fight. He can be up front people watching or in back if its nap time. We tried a sit and stand and all he wanted to do was get down and run through the stores or turn around cause he loves to see whats going on.

Just offering a different opinion but do you baby wear at all? Maybe you wouldn't need a double stroller at all. My first will be 19mos when the second comes and I have no intentions of buying a double stroller (I rarely used a stroller with the first).

Mine are 18m apart and it totally depends on your lifestyle. We are very active, lots of city walking, park/trail walking.
I hated the Kohlcraft, thought it was my dream stroller but it is so huge I was embarassed to take it shopping. PITA to get into the car in a hurry like when it si pouring and takes up a tom of space. Sold it.
Got the Phil and Ted sport. Fits the carseat and the toddler, folds fast and flat, is light, one handed steering etc...what I love best...it can be a single stroller in seconds so I am not stuck with a monster. And storage is so good that I no longer need a diaper bag.
The only other one I love is Joovy Caboose.

my son will be 15 months old when the new baby gets here and I am really worried about the stroller thing also. But we are looking at a side by side double stroller. I havnt made up my mind yet, cause I'm going to look at some of the suggestions ya'll have. Great topic. Something we all have to think about.

I say get a double stroller! My sons will be 20mths apart. but I have many neices & nephews to know that the older one's still going to need to nap & also be a handful so a stroller is very handy. Myself, personally the sit/stand stroller is a good idea if you have an older kid. I don't think it would come in hand at all. What would u do if your daughters both fall asleep when your shopping? When I watched my nephew who's 3 with my son (who just turned one) I use a double stoller- even big kids hate walking sometimes. What I found was really nice was the doubles that are next to each other- the kids can play with each other... but when the fall asleep it looks so uncomfortable. My mother in law gave us a gerber double- which is nice the bigger seats in the back with a cup holder etc. but truthfully we're trying to sell this one so we can get one so Rylan can sit out further to see everything (the older one) & Jordan (new baby) can be closer to us- so we can see him better. Good luck!

Mine are 12 1/2 mos apart in age, & we used the graco duo glider. Then, a family friend bought a sit n stand at a yardsale & gave it to us. We used that from when DD was a year & a mos for a year or so, like the duo glider. =)

My girls are 19 months apart and I wanted a double stroller that converted to a sit and stand later....I dont think kids are ready to stand till they are around 3 or 4 when they will stay still...My 20 month old will NOT stand and doesnt understand that she has to stay on the platform while we are moving.
I ended up getting a Kolcraft Contour Double Stroller...the seats are adjustable and has an infant seat attachment for the younger one is still in infant seat carrier.

we got a double stroller, with the option for a sit/stand for toddlers, thought this would be the best bet ... you can have 2 seats OR take the back seat off and use it as a sit/stand. that way we would have more options
(i will be having our 3 baby within 2 weeks, and our 2nd one is only 15 months -- 3rd one is 6 yrs)
we live in a VERY small area so i had to order this online, i know its a little pricey BUT i figure for my sanity it is worth it:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d...

this also comes with an infant seat (we needed a new one) and its the only one i could find that is a double/sit&stand/with an infant seat

I have a Graco Duo Glider, it is my 3rd double stroller because I wasn't happy with the first two. The model I have has a parent tray & each child's seat has a snack tray. The infant carseat will fit in the front or the back, both seats recline, both seats have nice canopies, it has a huge storage basket underneath & guess what...it's light to push around!!! I'm only 5'3 & 125 lbs before pregnancy & it seems light to push for me. Right now I'm pushing it 6 months pregnant with a dislocated hip. Also, it turns corners like a dream (which was my big complaint with the others I had). I looked into the Sit & Stand and was going to buy one but I just couldn't get over the tiny storage basket. I like my storage room (especially for 2 kids).

I have a 2 year old and 6 month old. They are about 19 months apart. I have the Graco Duo Glider. I love it because I can clip my daughter's Graco car seat into it. I'm not huge fan of the sit n stand because there are times when my 2 year old falls asleep. I plan on getting the Graco IPO twin stroller once my daughter gets a little older.

Hope this helps.

I have the Joovy Caboose ultralight and love it! It has a special attachment for the car seat, which was important for me. It's turns better then any of the singles I used when it was just my son. Worth checking out!! Best of luck

Kolcraft Contours double stroller. Rides REALLLLLLLY smoothly, and both seats able to be changed in any direction and most importantly, the infant carrier part of the stroller, is UNIVERSAL!! It is very difficult to find a nice stroller with universal infant carrier part. They have it at Babies R Us for 219.99. Wait til you get a 15% off coupon and get's it down under 200, which is GREAT for a double. (Mine are 22 months apart and works well) -- Do your research and go test them out. Put at least your daughter in there and bring the carrier and push it around the store to see if you like it! GOOD LUCK!

My daughter is 2 1/2 right now, I'm expecting my 2nd come November, I have asked for the Stand?Sit stroller, as long as the older one can sit up, I love those strollers...I never wanted a double stroller cuz they seem so bulky...Good Luck.
