Why it's probably not a good idea to have your toddler watch TLC/Discovery Health...

I tend to watch a lot of shows that show pregnancy and births when I'm pregnant, so it kinda took me by surprise when my oldest told a friend of mine that the baby was going to "come out of mommy's butt." It embarassed me, but it got me wondering. Has anyone else's toddlers made funny and/or embarassing comments about your pregnancy?

my 3 year old loves watching the "baby shows"! He knows his baby sister is in mommy's belly and will eventually come out. He originally thought babies got pushed out by the doctors and I let him believe it. Then we found out that we needed a c-section and he asked what that was and I explained it to him and he understands. He is always talking to his sister and has even asked her to come out and play with him cause he misses her. He goes in her room to "check" on her all the time. Even climbs in her crib and reads books to his "pretend baby sister to she can sleep. Children are like little sponges and absorb more then you may think. If he asks me a question I do not hesitate to tell him the answer. He asked how the baby got in my belly and I simply said " God put her there"...

Lol, I didn't think my 18 month old really had any idea what we were talking about when we talk about the baby being in my belly, but while I was watching TLC myself yesterday, he saw the baby just after it came out. I just told him "that Mommy had a baby in her belly too. See there's the baby!" He immediately came over and lifted up my shirt to see my belly, and then started sharing his juice with the baby by stabbing his sippy cup into my belly button! lol

I am also an adict of discovery health's pregnancy shows. As far as children go, you can't help what they say. They know that the baby is in there, eventually they are going to inquire how the baby got out! I am 24 weeks pregnant and have a 20 month old and she thinks it is the neatest thing to give her "broder" a hug and kiss mommys tummy. I hope she is as good of a big sis once he gets here as she is now with him in mommy's tummy!

Once my daughter ( 2.5 yrs ) caught on that there was a baby in Mommy's belly, she went to daycare and told all of her teachers that her baby sister was in their belly. Everyone she sees now has a baby in their belly!
