hi, i wouldn't stress about it too much, she will do it when she's ready, my son is nearly 9 moonths, and only strted sitting by himself about 3 weeks ago, he not long started holding his bottle as well, She will do it when she is ready, as long as she is happy, enjoy the cuddles and feeding her while you can, as soon as she starts holding a bottle herself you'll never get to do it again

i wouldnt worry about it. my daughter is 5 months now and she can sit up when we put her down, but its only for a few minutes because once she sees a toy or my phone she jumps at it and thats the end of that. we put her in a 'boppy' pillow to help her with it. u can get them at target, and if u get it soon enough u still mite beable to get the one with a free magazine subscription to parents magazine for a year! good luck!!!! :)

Nindara - she's still a little young - it seems like she's almost there - at this point I wouldn't be concerned.

As for the bottle - she grasps other objects - and it's better for her emotional development if you hold her while she nurses her bottle.

FYI: no matter what people say each baby will do things when they are ready to. If you are concerned ask your pediatrician and he/she will make sure that your baby does not have any problems that would prevent them from learning well. Other then that let your baby do things when she is ready to.

Hey, I bet you're a terrific mum! :) these ages are just a vague outline of development. Trust your mummie's instinct and know that your bub will sit up when she's good and ready, ha ha. Eve

My son wasn't able to sit un supported until he was seven months. He didn't start to really hold his bottle until about 9 months.

5 months is pretty young to worry. My little one who is now almost 2 didn't even roll over till he was 5 months :) You have nothing to worry about; it's true when they say kids develop on their own schedule. Also, if she does not start walking till late thats okay too. My guy didn't walk till 15 months. A friend of mine is an Early Childhood Development Specialist and she says to encourage crawling as long as possible because it will help with balance later in life

I agree with Rachel. My son didn't sit up or crawl for a while after the "typical" age; I always knew the answer, though: he was huge!! She has her own reasons for taking it slowly, don't worry about it. Just be ready for her to move very soon after...once muscle development starts, she might just take off on you (literally).

All babies develop at their own speed. My 9 month old son did not sit up unaided until 7 months. Also he will not hold his bottle to drink but he will hold it to throw it round. He does hold his cup and finger food so I'm not worried. They all get there in the end.

both my kids didnt sit up til 6 months. i had a boppy pillow that helped out for those occassional falls. but no worries for the bottle holding. some babies hold it and others dont. my son did since he was on formula but my daughter didnt since i nurse her. as long as she is grabbing other things and using her motor skills, no worries. 8 )

My son wouldn't hold his own bottle until he was like a year old. He wanted to be held and cuddled during feeding times. As for sitting up, he was about 6 or 7 months when he could sit up fully unassisted. My sister's baby is 5 months and she sits her in the middle of her U shaped feeding pillow for support, to try and work the muscles.

My daughter is 6 months old and she is barely starting to sit up on her own. She only stays up for a few seconds. Everyone develops at a different age. I believe the age is
4-7 months for sitting up. No worries.

my son started sitting up a week before he turned 6months. babies usually start sitting up around 6months ..

he is now 7months and is crawling and pulling himself up to sit and stand.

he's only just learnt how to hold his bottle .. but then again can only hold it when he is lying down.

he can hold sippy cups and food and everything else though.

Do you have one of the pillows that wraps around? I believe they're used for breatfeeding as well as aiding your little one to sit up. The pillow is a horseshoe shape and the baby sits in the middle, then she sits in the middle and has padding all around her. We have one and it was great for helping her sit. We got ours at Toys 'R' Us (well Babies 'R' Us). Good luck and your little girl is ADORABLE by the way!

both of my children now 3yrs and 19mths both started sitting on their own about 6mths, i just encouraged them with toys at the eye level height and maybe try putting cushions around her to prop her up a little to help her gain the confidence and balance, good luck

My daughter is 8 months old and I believe she was between 6 and 7 months when she started sitting up alone. As for bottles... she still won't hold her's! She'll hold her sippy cup and cookies, but not her bottle! Good luck with your little one:o)
