And if it does, on which types of products?
What kind of products you simply won't bother to look for online?
Really curious about this. :)

Yes!! Shopping online is awesome .. My partner and I have just started shopping online to buy groceries, everyday cleaning products, jewellery, makeup etc. The best thing about where we do our shopping is that we get bonuses back on our shopping. It is pretty awesome for us and is helping us save money for the things we want to do in the near future :) Pretty cool stuff if you ask me :D

Sometimes, it depends. Especially around Christmas you get better deals at the stores since merchants want to get rid of their stuff before the year ends. But then you have to deal with the crowd.

I do a lot of online shopping for Christmas. I watch for sales on toys mostly. I am an impluse buyer so yes it saves me money! If I go into a toy store, my kids will end up with way too much and I will leave broke!

If nothing else, you save time, which you will never get back. You don't have do any driving from store to store. Saving on gas is a good...great thing.

With amazon i do. But sometimes if something is purchase is new i always make sure i know it is cheaper to buy on amazon rather than a store like walmart. Ive seen walmart beat some prices of amazon especially with shipping. But amazon has things for $1-$10! so you never know depends on what you look for =)
baby gear as well. just make sure you research and look around before you buy. i love the fact that amazon has a lot of reviews as well

You can def save online. Plus the selection is so much better than any store can offer. And the kicker is that many websites don't charge tax.
I would def recommend taking advantage of free shipping whenever possible - even if it means meeting a minimum. And always search for coupon code for the specific website you're shopping with BEFORE you checkout.

diapers.com accepts coupons and often have ones of their own on there as well. some things you can get cheaper online, some you can't. My kids have WIDE feet and their Stride Rite shoes in a store cost around 60 bucks, but can get the same size/brand etc for 20 bucks at 6pm.com.
And some times - with gas prices, it's worth it to get it for a dollar more online and have it delivered to me. But if you have a printer, you can print all kinds of coupons off for regular shopping. I've never done groceries online. Somehow makes me nervous.

i love shopping online. even for groceries. i am the driver in our house and when i was pregnant with my twins i could not get in the car at the end so i discovered online grocery shopping. i am from the uk so i do not know other places. now when shopping for anything really we check first online and compare prices and it seems to always go in favour for online shopping. an example. my husband got some crayola pens for the girls from amazon for only £2 whereas in toys r us they were almost 4 and he did not pay for postage...................plus the convenience of having it send to the home.........we love online shopping in this house.....easy, mostly cheaper and soooooooo convenient

Almost everyone has deals if you spend $50 or more with free shipping.
Here are some coupon codes: http://www.shopping-bargains.com/

You can definitely get baby gear cheaper online. I know that BabiesRUs is always having weekly online specials. It just depends on what you are looking for and making sure to buy when its on sale or there is an online coupon available. Several other baby supply stores have similar deals too.
Fashion items are tricky. If its accessories or shoes you can generally save (most shoes stores offer free shipping and free returns) But for clothes make sure you know its gonna fit since you might loose some money on shipping if you have to return it.

Thank you all for your helpful replies. It's interesting you all related to the shipping as the core saving. I never thought of it this way. I was more into the actual product's price.
Brittany, I think in books, indeed we saw many discounts online. But I wonder - can baby gear be cheaper online than off? Do you think it's possible to get fashion items online and save even more than gas costs?

I think you can not only get a lot of bargains online, but a lot of times if you buy over a certain amount, the shipping is free. It also helps take away the temptation of buying stuff you don't need like you would have in the store.

I shop on amazon constantly. I got my husband a cookbook for his birthday and save $40 on it if you count shipping (I needed sooner than the free shipping option).

Hi Or-Tal, You can definitely save on just about everything (except most food stuffs) You just have to make your purchases when the retailer has a great deal going on. Most of them offer free shipping too so you don't have to worry about shipping costs. I also found that you can purchase gift cards for around 12% less than the card value (and it ships for free) Then go back and use the gift card in combination with an online sale to get around 33% off. Let me know if you have any stores you're interested in an I can help show you how it works.
