I know about the saving money on groceries and such. I am looking for tips that stretch your money a little more - such as cutting your laundry sheets in half and they last longer. Does anyone have any tips like this??

DealHijack.com is a good place to start saving money. It collects best deals and coupons from different sources for your local city and shows them on one page.

I plan meals and I also have a spread sheet setup on my computer. The spread sheet shows what I bought how much it was on sale and regular price, how much per ounce, LB or how much per each if I buy it in bulk, and which store I bought it. I also use coupons. And most of the time if you don't buy generic you can also save yourself money. Since I stopped buying generic, started the spread sheet, and go to certain stores I've saved about 300 bucks every month just on groceries. I also don't really shop at Walmart too much anymore because most of the time their prices are higher than the other grocery stores. I also started keeping every receipt and at the end of every month I add them all together, and factor in that amount. I count the gas receipts separate for that month so that I can keep track of all of the finances better. We also have a spread sheet for every paycheck. It shows us how much many is going where. We have a spot for the electric, the rent, our phone, and so on. If add that spreadsheet as well we have actually save over 600 buck every month because we're not spending like idiots. I've found that the key is that you pay all your important bills first, and then you will have more than what you thought. If you don't need cable tv then don't get it, if you're not doing online banking or paying bills online than you don't need the internet. All that type of stuff is just extra, if you don't have money for it than don't do it.

I make my own baby food and it has saved me TONS! The other day I made 60 jars of food (each jar is 2.5 ounces and one cube in an ice cube tray is 1 ounce) and if I would have bought 60 jars in a store I would have spent anywhere from $15-$25 more depending on the brand. It takes me about 45-60 minutes to make it all and freeze it but it's so worth it. I buy at a local produce store that sells all locally grown products. I feel good knowing that there are no preservatives in my son's food plus I'm saving money!

Clip them coupons, get them frequent shopper cards, Sunday papers often have other deals in unexpected places offering free items, turn off lights and use daylight, if you have gas in your house use electric heaters in the winter, with cleaning products I add water to them to draw out their use, especially with some of the stronger products like 409 and Febreeze and some carpet spot removers adding some water doesn't hurt. RIce is filling and Mexican is filling and both are cheap, have a nacho or taco salad night once a week with lettuce, tomatoes, meat and refried beans on tortillas or tortilla chips, cheap and effective. If you're a homeowner there's also a paint that you can get that was designed by Nasa for insulation purposes that they've recently made safe and put on the market for homeowners. It's rather pricey, but it cuts costs in the long run because you only have to buy it once and you won't have to tamper with that pesky thermostat near as often! Clothes: Thrift Stores are a God Sent! You've got to be picky, but you can find some near-to brand new clothing at thrift stores for a dollar or two a piece! Viva Paper Towels are so soft they can double as tissue and even toilet paper in a pinch if you purchase the narrower sheets. You can also turn them into wipies to save on buying wipies. Coffee in the morning, if you turn it off right after you make it it won't burn and you can re-heat it on the coffee-maker burner the next morning or two and it still tastes fresh. Cereals, buy the bags not the boxes and keep in mind not everything has to be name brand. Adding leftovers to meals is also a great help, once a week I go through the fridge and look at what I've got leftover and say, "Yep, I can make something of that!" Boxed or frozen meals, add some left over cheese or veggies so they're not wasted and it makes the meal more filling. The laundry sheets, I like my laundry sheets so I won't cut those in half... I'm really bad about that, but hopefully these were some other helpful hints!

I find planning my meals saves a lot at the grocery store (as well as going out to eat). First I plan out the meals, then make the grocery list. I also go to couponmom.com and print out the ones I need. I check the sales papers to see what's on sale or buy one get one free.

Plug appliances, electronics etc into a powerbar. Turn the powerbar off when the stuff is not in use. A tv pulls 10 kilowatts of power when it is sitting idle. Same thing with toaster, kettle etc. I unplug all of that now. Electricity is being used to keep your clockradio running, the clock on the microwave etc. I bought a wind up alarmclock. Just a few tips.

I make my own fabric softener! I just take my old downy bottle, add 3 cups of water, 2 cups of vinegar, and 1 cup of cheap hair conditioner, Shake it up and viola. Measure as you would regular softener. And no you don't smell the vinegar. This saves me so much considering I wash for 6. You can add fragrances if you so choose.

vinegar in the dishwasher instead of jet dry does the same thing. also vinegar in your downy ball does the same job as fabric softener and no it does not make your clothes stink. 1/4 cup and your set. also coffee filters or old newspapers are great for washing windows instead of wasting paper towels. some cleaning supplies u can add esential oils to mask the smell but i would not recomend it in windex. my mother still does this i no longer do as i don't buy them,,but she cuts her dryer sheets in thirds they still do the same softening as a full one!

Speaking of laundry, you can typically use less soap than you think. Try filling the scoop less, you'll get the soap to stretch longer. You kind of have to play with the amounts and it depends on how dirty your clothes are, but you might be surprised. The same goes for dishwashing detergent. You normally don't have to fill the dispenser completely.

You can also use vinegar instead of Windex to clean your windows (assuming you don't mind the smell for a little while).

I've also scaled back washing my hair to every other day (I just put it up in a bun in the shower), it is better for your hair and you use half as much shampoo and conditioner.

I hope these were helpful!

i make all my household cleaning supplies. i can make a load of laundry soap and save over 350 bucks per batch compared to tides prices and it does the exact same job! take about an hour of my time but i would love to find a job i make 350 bucks an hour!. making all my own cleaning products from scratch saves me thousandsssssss each year. i also save tons by cloth diapering my children over the years(but not for those that don't have the time or energy to do it) i also stopped buying boxed meals at the grocery store and found almost ever recipe for those boxed meals on a website that gives you the recipes. making food from scratch saves a ton of money esp in a large family. i also switched to crock pot cooking alot. a study was done and using your crock pot 2 times a week actually only costs you 80 cents a month to do it, and along with that u can buy cheaper cuts of meat and they always come out tender!

I've been shopping from a store with products that gives my family the most bang for our buck. By shopping here, we haven't added an additional penny to our monthly shopping budget. We actually started saving money! The products are more concentrated than products found in Target, Wal-Mart and other retail stores AND they are made with natural ingredients instead of harsh and toxic chemicals. If you're interested in learning more about this fabulous store, let me know!
