I have an 8 and 5 year old. For the first 6 years I sold much of my kid stuff at a consignment sale in NC where I could price it myself, drop it off and I got 66% of the selling price. I just picked up what didn't sell at the end of the sale. I also bought most of my kids clothes and toys there or at garage sales. Then we moved back to our hometown of Pittsburgh, PA and there was nothing like that around. I was stuck on how to make money selling my kids stuff. I have always tried to break even by selling their stuff and using that money to buy new "used" stuff. So now a friend from college and I are having our first consignment sale in August in Wexford, PA called Sunflower Sprouts.
These types of sales can be such a blessing to those who are on a tight budget. You will definitely get more money for your items than you will with a garage sale. Google a sale that might be around you. You never know what you might be missing.
