what I do to save money on food, I buy on sale items like chicken or frozen vegetables, i like the one's from bj's, they have the one's that are resealable and the big package cost about $5-6.00 dollars, you can cook your meals, and save your left overs in the fridge for up to three days, don't leave hot foods out no longer than two hours, i like to set the timer on the stove for about 20-30min, so that i can remind myself to safely put in the fridge. meals like this can cost you about $3-5.00 dollars for the small family, a large family will cost $5-10.00 dollars a week that adds about $25.00 to $50.00 dollars x 4 = 200.00 dollars a month on dinner alone, wish you all the best good luck, its not easy, i know.

I splurged and bought those plastic plates with lids and now when I cook big meals I cook enough to have plenty of extra to put in the plates and freeze for later. This saves money in our house because when were cramped for time we head to the freezer and microwave what we want instead of going out to eat. I buy in bulk from places like SaveALot and Sams club. I saved alot of money on gas by adding seafoam into the tank and now I get about 10 more miles per tank of gas.

Buy in bluk when its a deal. Try to get your husband/boyfriend to care for the kids when you shop. You will be able to spend a little more time checking prices to make sure you are getting the best buy. Make a list of what you need. Pass the things you do not need to buy or is not on your list. Never shop hungry! Go after dinner if you are hungry you tend to spend more on snack things that are not on your list. Plan your meals know what you plan to cook for the week (or two or three) plan to make things that have common ingredents but will give you variety. Example: I buy a large roast make a pot roast and with leftover meat make shredded beef tacos saves moeny and time! Check to see if your local store price matches competetors sale paper prices. Be organised about price matching if your all over the place your less likely to price match, have a price match paper along with your list and sales papers with you at the store. On price match paper put name of store and all the sale items and prices repeat with other stores/sales you have on same paper and when putting items on the checkout put the items that are in the same sales together so you can go through the paper(s) quickly at the register. Carry a calculator is you are on a strict budget and can only spend so much so you can save hassle at the register of going over your budget, this also helps when figuring if it is really cheaper to buy that meat or something else in bulk!

Buy meat in bulk and separate into smaller portions.
Don't buy prepackaged items, spend a bit more time in adding spices and preparation to save $
