I utilize the internet & state specific activity magazines and books to find venues that are fun for the kids, but easy on our pockets.

Ex: California's Free Art Gallery which allows the children to paint, draw, create almost anything possible with small hands.

I know this won't matter to you. But, Just in case there are some Minnesota Mommies reading that are in the Twin Cities Area the Minnesota Children's Museum the third Sunday of the Month is free sponsored by Target Corp.

Another tip for anyone if you go to children's websites such as NickJr.com or Noggin.com they have free printables with craft ideas. I find this useful on rainy days.

We do this too, we have gone to local muesums and parks. Even when we eat at home, then will sometimes go out for dessert so it still kinda feels like eating out. :)
