Well, we live in a house with roommates so rent is much cheaper. I buy a few things in bulk (diapers) so it is cheaper in the long run, just a little bit of a hit at the time, but $40 a month for diapers isn't bad.
There are probably a few other ways, I just can't think of them at the moment, but I am excited to learn some more.

Our family buys in bulk, too. I prefer the "green" products and have found a great wholesale company to get my laundry soap and cleaning supplies from, toothpaste, shampoo, etc., and the fact there are no dangerous or cancer-causing chemicals in any of them makes me very happy with them, and my kids' clothes smell and look clean! I also buy organic crackers and cereal in bulk. Other saving tips are plant a garden and grow your own vegetables if you can, and bake cookies things versus buying them pre-baked and pre-packaged.
