I have never given my son homo milk. he actually just started drinking milk a few months ago (he's almost 3) He just hated it! well, he liked chocolate milk lol. I only drink skim milk and that's what he drinks as well. But he's a big fan of cheese and yogurt so he always gets enough dairy from those.

i'm almost 30 and still drink whole milk. dairy is where dietary fat should come from. a bit from meat as well. i refuse to have any light dairy products in my house.
as for when to start whole milk, depends on the little one, you, and your pediatrician

Quoting Crystal:
1 year and no earlier! haha, ok so i started erik about 10 months, but he still mainly had his formula. and i would do like half milk half formula once or twice a day, and pure formula for the rest of the day, just to get him used to it. but it can cause allergies. neither my husband nor i have any allergies so i wasnt too too worried. with erik he had to switch to 2% or lower at 2 years old. because WIC doesnt allow whole milk after 2 unless its recommended by the doctor. something about to many over weight kids.
my advise is do what you feel best for your child. dont push whole milk on them when they are still under 1. but if you want to do like i did to introduce it at like 10 months it shouldnt be a problem. but dont stop the formula till after 1. i think erik was 15 months before he was fully off formula (between having it left over and being a first time mom worrying he wasnt getting his nutrients)
hope this helps!
OK so as i stated if you were paying attention is that is aid it shouldn't be introduced until 1 year and no earlier yes...but it can be if advised by a Dr. Anyone should be going to a Dr for this type of advice. My son had to be switched to it at 9 months as he was throwing up his formula and loosing weight. But i would NEVER recommened it to anyone to do this! We are just mothers giving advice and my advice is to ask a Dr and if you don't want to them wait a year like the health department states! It is very rude of you to laugh at a response that is an OPINION!

They are not to start Homo until 1 year! Any sooner can cause allergies. Yes some Dr's recommened adding it early but it deends on each child. If your child has no need to be on it sooner then it's 1 year and it's until you want to give it to them past the age of 3.

Generally 9 months (but still on formula or breast feeding) until 2 years old unless it is recomended to continue.
