I had a friend make me one years ago and I loved it, but she didn't use a washable fabric. So it was expensive to keep clean, when I accidentally washed it in the machine it shrank. Make sure it's a durable, machine washable, breathable fabric. A (pre-washed) cotton or cotton blend fabric should be good. I also recommend a pattern to hide baby drool etc.

The Moby wrap looks pretty cool, I am working on a Mei Tai wrap for a friend, and they are pretty similar, but a Mei Tai is two sided, and has padding in the straps for more comfort. I would say that the material you choose needs to be a heavy cotton for durability and stability, and make sure that it doesnt stretch at all.
