Girl scouts is a good program, they do lots of things. I am a girl scout leader and we have taken our girls on several different things like spending the night at the Boston museum of Science and the Franklin Zoo,We have gone on the Charles river bout tour, camp outs, swim days, mother daughter tea parties, community clean ups. The list goes on. Not all girl scout troops as active as mine but most do alot of different things. It also can be very inexpensive $12.00 for the early membership, and if you troop is big enough and sell enough cookies and magazines, they can do that much more for free. I think the most we have charged a girl to go was $30.00 for a 2 day camping trip with all meals included. Our Boston trip was only $24.00 per girl, with the Charles River Boat tour and 3 meals, and the ride down there from Maine. Fun for all ages from 5 to 18. Give it a try your may enjoy it.

Is she athletic? Artistic? We have local theatre here and they offer courses for kids and of course there is always lots of sports activities to get involved with at the local Y. My daughter does swimming in the winter and summer, soccer in the spring. We are going to start her in hiphop dancing this fall, non-competitive. And she has expressed interest in Piano lessons, so we are looking into that.
Go to your local library and ask what programs the city offers. Many cities offer cheap dance, art or other activities to children that age. Also many cities have sports leagues that she could join. When I was 10 I was on a soccer team in the fall and a softball team in the spring.
