Saving money-stop buying too many clothes for your child

I found out most of the new moms will buy a lot of new clothes for their children, and maybe some of them they don't need or just wear them once or twice and they are no longer fit. I was there.

Since my son was 5 yrs old, I stopped going to shop for him every week. Unless the stores have big sale then I will get more for next year, ortherise the more I get the more I have to get rid of next time. They grow up so quickly.

I have a lot of friends that have had babies during the same month that I am due... I haven't had to spend a dime yet, and a lot of people that DID make the mistake of buying so many clothes just want the out of the way! It's easy to get second hand stuff for cheap if not for free..

Very true. My mother loves to buy clothes for my daughter. I appreciate the thought but my daughter has more clothes than I do. Now I am saying, "Where can I get this in my size" LOL. My daughter only wears some clothes more than others. So when she doesn't fit into them anymore. I donate them to the hospital my mom works at which take in patients that sometimes have no money to buy clothes for their babies or I donate them to the thrift store. Either way, I know someone whom needs clothes for their kids have clothes.

I agree - the same with shoes.  They should only have the basic three-four pairs.  Running shoes, Dress shoes and a couple of casual shoes.  Their feet grow so fast - they dont end up wearing the new shoes more than 2-3 times.
