Invest in a hand held blender. It is a time saver, oh so handy and easy to clean. Puree fruits, cooked veggies at first. Don't add seasonings. Add water so it is not too thick. For Thanksgiving I blended some mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey drippings and turkey. Avoid, honey, eggs, fish, nuts. Also anything with the risk of allergens.
I recommend prepping it in batches and store some for the future. I use those small microwave containers for storage and freezing. The ice cube trays, transferring them to plastic bags works well too.

What's a good way to make your own baby food? I'm asking for future references so I can make mine when my son gets older. I'm always up for saving money!
