We have an emergancy fund that we put money in every month. It has helped us out more than once, if you just put the same amount or more if you can in every month its like it isnt even part of your income and you can end up saving pretty fast. We also pay cash for everything, no credit cards, when there is something we want to buy we start saving for it and pay cash, it may take longer to get what you want, but it is worth it because you end up paying way less in the long run. It also helps if you want to bargin with someone when you have cash when buying a big item.
