Believe it or not, I've gotten dresses for $3 at Children's Place, jeans for $5 at Gymboree, a snowsuit from GAP for $10...just to name a few. The key is to shop the sales online when they offer free shipping. The majority of the time you can find promo codes for a certain percent off that works on sale and clearance items.

Also, always plan ahead...for instance, I bought my daughters 12-24 month wardrobe for $35 from Gymboree! I shopped the 60% sale and had a code for $25 off

I shopped for all my babygirls clothes at a consignment store and they are all in great shape! Most of the clothes she never wore and it got too small after three washes, then recycle them, flea market them, save them for another baby, or consignment them again. I got so much clothes from consignment stores! I can't stop going!!
