From what I know, here are my tips:

1) Make a list before shopping and stick to it. It's important.

2) Never buy things that you don't need.

3) Compare prices and get the most cost-effective item.

4) Don't be brand Loyalty.

5) Shop online and take advantage of those coupon sites, like CouponSnapshot.com, promocodes2012.org, Groupon.com and etc.

6) Shop alone with a full stomach.

7) Buy in bulk, when you do get a great deal.

Know what the lowest price is -- sometimes a sale isn't a sale.



Price matching is a great way to save at one store so you are not chasing deals.



If something is on sale but more than one and "stockpile" the item. I am not talking 100 of 1 item, just enough to get you to the next sales cycle.

We do 1 bulk shopping every 3 months at BJ's for items like (meat, cereals, grains, veggies, cleaning supplies, etc). When we go to the grocey store we may spend $50 a week (we go every Sunday for items like bread, produce, milk). We also invested in a deep freezer which allows me to keep more things on hand.

There are so many tips for savings in grocery shopping, if you search on the internet. 1, The basic and easy way to save time & money, is to make a grocery list before starting the shopping.
2, Know your necessities and priorities. Never buy things that you don't nee, but just because it's cheap.
3, Collect and take full use of coupons( printable coupons and online coupons).
The coupon is always your good friend.
4, Compare. Compare brands and price per unit. Try your best to get the best deal.
5, Shop without kids.

I know not all areas have the "cheap" supermarket. We are lucky enough to have some here. Not a lot of people shop there b/c they don't want to be seen going in there. Me, I don't care. I enjoy saving money! I check sales papers, but beware with the Sunday Paper coupons. The grocery stores in the area know what coupons are in there and they will raise the prices on those items or make you buy more than 1 to get a "special deal", which in turn, makes you pay what the regular price would be anyway.Sorry if that comment was confusing. For example: Double coupon day at grocery store. Tom's toothpaste coupon for $1. That would be $2 off. Ok, the grocery store made Tom's toothpaste 2 packs for $6 or $4.29 each! So, in the end, I ended up paying about the same. The regular price of that toothpaste is less than $4. I check the expiration date on the coupons and hold them as long as I can. The other day I went to the cheap place and was able to get turkey bacon for $1 a pack! At the regular grocery store, its over $3 a pack. Its not much, but every penny helps~

Tip #1, everything at eye level is more expensive. Look down lower.
Tip#2 Always use coupons.
Tip#3 Buy in bulk if there is a sale. Such as meat. You can always freeze it.
Tip#4 Make a list and stick to it.
